Let's Think Of A New Interior Design Style Name

Shabby chic remains to trend and it's one of interior design styles you either love or loathe! I think the problem may be that many people think the style is a good excuse for having an untidy home – just call it 'shabby chic'!

However, in reality shabby chic is it's own distinctive style which takes as much planning and thought as any other design style. It may be the case that a new name needs to be found for those rooms which are crammed full of clutter, somehow 'clutter chic' doesn't have the same ring to it!

Then of course there's the rustic look which is also used for many interiors which aren't truly rustic, just unfinished! As with shabby chic, rustic interiors also need to be considered carefully to achieved the desired look.

Maybe these unfinished homes should just be given the tag 'lived-in look'? as many people don't have the time, money or inclination to make the most of their homes.

Creating any style needs to be well planned and yet to achieve most you don't need to spend a fortune. Opt for bamboo roller blinds or wooden blinds cheap, cheerful and can create a stunningly simplistic style to windows.

Cheap Roller Blinds Made From Bamboo Are The Ideal Window Dressing In All Styles Of Homes

I have to admit that in many ways I am a great lover of bamboo blinds! It's their simplicity and natural look which gives me pleasure and irrespective of how many images you see of them they always look so chic and stylish!

Of course being made from natural material also has its appeal, along with the different light effects one can so easily achieve. This year the trend is to use natural products within out home and many designers are using a combination of cheap roller blinds and ready made curtains to create some stunning window dressings.

For me a bamboo blind is the ideal choice in bedrooms which don't need blackout roller blinds, so unless you don't have an unwanted light pollution entering your bedroom they are an effective and trendy way to dress your windows.

The other great advantage with any wood or natural material used as a window dressing is the gentle warmth they bring to a room, of course they also produce some wonderful lighting effects during the day time, more especially when it's sunny!

Anyone looking for an inexpensive yet chic way to dress their windows should give serious consideration to using cheap roller blinds, particularly bamboo ones!

Wake Up To The Smell Of Natural Pine Or Spruce This Christmas!

I love the idea of adding festive decorations to bedrooms! What could be more pleasing that crisp, clean, snow white bedding sets and the smell of evergreen pine or spruce sap to make you feel really Christmassy!

This chic bedroom uses natural elements throughout the year with the beautifully carved wooden bed posts and the simple wood-weave Roman style wooden blinds. It's the simplicity of the overall appearance of the room combined with different textures, as seen in the embroidered bedding and scatter cushions and bed posts which has so much appeal. The windows have not been over dressed, so as much natural light as possible can enter the room during the daytime.

It's really easy to emulate designs such as these and what's even more appealing is that you can choose inexpensive bedding sets and blinds, along with odd natural 'finds' (such as the scallop shells) to use as unobtrusive finishing touches. Keep the walls plain and the design simple, no fussiness just beautiful furnishings and personal treasures and the smallest of bedrooms can be transformed effortlessly.

Adding the natural festive touches would be ideal for guest rooms this Christmas and shows that you have great design style throughout your home not just in the lounge!

The Beautiful Colours Of Nature

If the thought of filling your home with tortoiseshell, ivory and horn sends shivers down your spine, you can still have some of nature's finest patterns and colours just as long as it faux (false).

Thinking about where your furniture and soft furnishing come from and the materials they are made from is becoming extremely popular as we are looking at ways to lower our carbon footprint, however, ivory, horn and tortoiseshell, rightly or wrongly, has been used in interiors for many hundreds of years across the globe.

The beautiful browns, creams and orange hues found in natural tortoiseshell make wonderful colour combinations. Cast your mind back to the 70s when teenagers wanted chocolate brown and orange bedrooms, they were the in-trend colours of the time and today these colours may be given fancy names such as chocolate, mocha or sunset glow they are still fundamentally brown and orange!

Nature inspires many interior designs and the use of natural materials which have been sourced from sustainable resources has never been more in demand. If you adore wooden blinds because of their colour, unique graining along with their practicality and versatility as a window dressing check out were the wood to make them has been sourced.

Decades No. 2

I simply love the design and the idea of taking drawer fronts from different furniture pieces and mixing them together into one stunning chest of draws.

Decades No. 2 offers a practical storage space which is visually appealing and very ecco friendly! The discarded draw fronts were all sourced from flea markets and combine the draw fronts from offices and home furniture. This particular piece was designed for the Swedish Design Museum.

Recycling at its best in my opinion! A simple design concept which has produced a very practical piece of functional furniture. Incorporating different draw design styles across the decades brings a whole host of colour combinations together in a very stylish way. Each draw front has its own unique and original handle or knob, adding further interest and colour.

A great way to use a wooden blind to coordinate with the natural materials in the same room. Use in contrast or in conjunction with other wonderful salvage bargains the new in vogue ’Shabby chic’ interior design style will add a new concept to the meaning of shabby and very chic.

The Decades chest of drawers would look great in modern or traditional interiors as the mix of old and new provides a unique and very stylish piece of furniture. The white lacquered MDF shows each draw front off beautifully and enhances the natural and man-made material of each draw front in a very striking way.

Dream Bag

This new design concept made from beaver nylon and foam filled polyester brings the humble bean bag right up to date. Dream bag offers the ideal resting and relaxation place for people of all ages.

Designed by Ulrika Engberg and Kasper Medin- they have used the idea of a flower bud when the Dream Bag is closed which blossoms when open. A simple yet effectual concept.

Like most bean bags Dream Bag looks incredibly comfortable. I love the idea of having that extra support from the contrasting ‘petals’. Ideal for letting babies snuggle into to rest, as long as they are not left unsupervised of course, and great for oldies like me who still like to sit low down but need extra help to get comfortable!

Dream bag is lightweight and therefore easy to transport around the home or in the garden-when it’s a bit warmer.

I also like the use of black and white beaver nylon fabric- as this enables the Dream Bag to blend well into both modern and traditional interior designs with ease. It looks great against this wooden flooring and would be ideal in chic apartments which have a monotone, minimalist interior. Coordinated with either white or black wooden blinds, white walls and black and white rugs a remarkably easy and affordable interior can be created.

No doubt once Ulrika and Kasper have found a producer for their Dream Bag, a huge variety of different colour combinations will become available.
